What is Flexible Magnet?

Share

A flexible magnet is any flexible product with a magnetic field that can bend without breaking or taking any damage. Flexible magnets, just like other magnets, have an invisible magnetic field but have a unique rubber design to be shaped easily without being stiff.

The flexible magnets are produced by a Ferrite magnet material (ferromagnetic powder) mixed with flexible rubber such as vinyl. Both the synthetic substrate and ferromagnetic powder combined with an adhesive make it magnetic, creating a product that is extruded and can be shaped based on the application.

What are the Applications of Flexible Magnets?

There are several types of flexible magnets, for example, sheets, strips with adhesive back, and profiles. One of the most used are magnetic strips which used in applications related to door seals and you can buy magnetic strips from Intertrade Co. in rolls. Flexible magnets are used in many applications, such as the following:

  • Refrigerator Gaskets
  • Advertising, Magnetic Signs and Displays
  • Shower Boxes, Sauna and Steam Bath
  • Doors and Industrial Gates
  • Window Fixtures and Mosquito Nets
  • LED Lighting
  • Educational Equipment, Magnetic Maps, Calendars, and Charts
  • Crafts, Toys, and Puzzles
  • And many other

What are the advantages of Flexible Magnets?

A flexible magnet’s main advantage is that it is bendable and can be used on different surfaces even if it is not entirely flat. In addition, it can be cut or shaped in any specific size with almost no complex tools used without causing any cracking or damage to the magnet. Strong magnetic strips can be determined from its magnetic force and its ability to flex and bend without being damaged.
